It’s easy to get that feeling that failure will be the end of the road. But it isn't. It isn't even something to fear because it's going to happen at one point or another, especially for entrepreneurs. It’s something that should be.
“If everything seems under control, you’re not going fast enough.” This quote from race car driver Mario Andretti works just as well for entrepreneurs. In fact it's used constantly when talking about startups and risk taking. There is some risk taking in everything that we do, and that’s good, in fact, my personal motto when I get the nibble of fear that tells me I might fail, is, “So, I fail.”
Sounds simple right? Of course, there is something important that happens after a failure. You learn from it, you fix whatever you did wrong, and you make sure not to make the same mistake twice. Some of the best lessons are born out of mistakes. If we're afraid to make those mistakes then how are we supposed to learn the lessons?
Richard Branson said it best in a Forbes guest post in 2015 (titled “ Don’t Be Afraid to Fail ”) . He was talking about how to deal with the fear of being out of control when he wrote:
“It is important that when you feel without control, you do not bottle up it up and try to push through on your own. That is a recipe for failure. You have to collaborate with friends and colleagues, brainstorm with them, get advice and accept help in any shape or form.”
We all need support to get over our fears from time to time, and that’s one of the reasons why we’ve seen Coworking spaces pop up, Here at MediaAMP our goal is support everyone in our space and help that fear of failure become a little less scary and maybe even make it exciting.
So, jump out, take those risks and never ever be afraid to fail or ask for help.
